Various laws are applicable to the operations of procuring materials domestically or internationally and importing/exporting them. Complying with these laws is the most essential condition among any company activities and it is regarded as one of the most important themes of the Sony group “Corporate Social Responsibility” (CSR).
When exporting materials procured in Japan, we must comply with not only the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act, the Import Trade Control Order, the Foreign Exchange Order, the Export and Import Transaction Act and so on, but also others such as Catchall Restriction (introduced in 2002). We have established an export regulation system (separate from an export operation division) to conduct thorough compliance activities according to our in-house export regulation.
For the same reason, for a case of importing materials procured overseas, we have an import regulation system, in which an importing operation can be conduct adequately under the Customs Law, so we can avoid violating taxation duty for import goods.
In addition, when procuring materials, we maintain a buy-and-pay regulation system in order to comply with the Act against Delay in Payment of Subcontract Proceeds Etc. to Subcontractors, which protects the profit of parts procuring companies.
